Just finished watching a WS video by Michael Twelftree of Two Hands Winery in Australia. As he explains, he and his partner wanted to showcase Shiraz from different regions in Southern Australia, specifically the state of Victoria. They picked 6 regions and have produced Shiraz from each of these regions. I thought it was really interesting as a data point in support of terroir that in this corner of Australia, they were able to make wine from the same grape variety and get such different wines. He also gives a few bits of information about how each region (Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Padthaway, et al) is different from the others and how the wine from each region is different from the others .(4:38 min)
I would love to see more of this type of comparison; I think it really helps sales people draw distictions and helps consumers when faced with wines from different appellations.
