I think today is the most beautiful day of the year in the Napa Valley. The colors are amazing and the weather is warm and dry. Just wanted to share my drive to work today with all of you.
I really love the fact that Rich shares what he looks for in reserve quality Chardonnay grapes; the small clusters and the small and large berries mixed together. When did they end up picking that vineyard? I hope it was before the rains...

I was fortunate to be able to walk vineyards with Rich Arnold, Winemaker at Robert Mondavi Winery. He explained to me how he decides when to pick and I think his explanation is very interesting. The video is a little long but very instructive.

This is a summary video of the Garco Wine Company's day at RMW. We visited To Kalon, Wappo Hill and tasted some "pretty good wines". Christopher Barefoot and the "boys" played a mean game of bocce.
Cheryl. I already made a copy for Angus. He asked me to take out the photo of him eating. I have posted ( actually asked Brian to post) the "corrected" version on the RMW website. Thanks for the feedback.

What is the strangest question you have been asked about wine or winemaking?
Here at Robert Mondavi Winery we see over 100,000 people a year on tour or in the tasting rooms. Most visitors ask pretty basic questions, when is the harvest, how many grapes does it take to make a bottle, what do the grapes taste like, etc. Sometimes they will ask something totally off the wall. I am curious to know what is the strangest question you have been asked about wine and what was the answer you gave.
