Over the Rainbow

I want to thank everyone who has been reaching out to me during my travels. These little notes from home have gone a long way in keeping me from getting too home sick. Special thanks to Cindy Bancroft and Michelle Desrosiers for making me miss HOTDOGS more than I ever have… Continue

Cows, Haggis, and Joan Rivers

Edinburgh Castle

There are two things I wanted to make sure I do while in Scotland. Play the bagpipes, and eat haggis. I struck out on the bagpipes, but Graham and I did eat some haggis.

Legend has it that the wild haggis roam free in the highland hills of Scotland. ThContinue

"Wee" is a Relative Term

London/Aberdeen/Inverness. This was a good old fashioned work week that is right in my wheel house. Let’s drag the bag around the center of London and taste wine with the restaurants and hotels that make this city such an international food and wine destination. The fine… Continue

Fortune Follows the Brave

Dublin. So when we last left our hero he was in Cardiff, Wales. Having just finished a meeting with a new wholesaler, Glaremorgan, my Constellation Europe counterpart Jason and I decided to get some lunch. Over lunch Jason asked me what my plans for the weekend were. I tol… Continue

Left at the Castle

July 25. Cardiff, Wales. After spending the last week in and around the London area this week they have cut me loose. It is time for me to make my pilgrimage to the Majestic store locations throughout the South. I have a stack of addresses, a full tank of gas, and a trunk… Continue

Shedding a Tier

Pulling my pint in The Charterhouse Pub

July 19, Weybridge. I am officially in my 6th hotel. The town of Weybridge is about half way between Guildford and London. It’s described as a posh town (pronounced locally- “pawsh”) and my hotel is right at the edge of town. There i… Continue

New Head Start Program

The Tap & Spile, Birmingham

The end of a big week. I finally got into the market and got to talk about wine to some buyers in London. And I also went up to Birmingham to do a sales meeting presentation with Matthew Clark. Let me just say that wine buyers are the same… Continue

There will be no fireworks in Guildford

July 6, Godalming

They have finally moved me out of the Travel Lodge. Shame really. Leaving an old hotel like that. It must have been around for over 8 years. (and probably vacuumed twice). It was a mistake that I had been booked in there and when my contacts here found out Friday morning where I had been staying they booked me into a much nicer Inn in the much smaller town of Godalming "The Manor House". Debbie is making all of my travel arrangements and she asked Friday if I'd like to move ov… Continue

"Welcome to England, Mr Lindquist."

July 3, Guildford.

Ah Guildford. The "Cleveland" of Surrey. Guildford is likely the most in between town I've ever seen. It's not big but it's not small. It's not fun but it's not boring. The people aren't outgoing but they're not mean. Guildford just is. Out of the 18 odd pubs in this town, I have popped into nine. (just for one, honest) And the first person I got to strike up a meaningful conversation with me isn't even British. He's from Nepal. He's a former Sherpa now working at the local me… Continue
