Joel Reese

Temecula Valley Winery Host Honored for Customer Service

May 22nd, 2009. Issue 21, Volume 9.

The Temecula Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has named Joel Reese of Leonesse Cellars as the recipient of its inaugural Spotlight Recognition Award.

Reese, who heads up the hosting and tours division for Leonesse Cellars, was selected for the quarterly honor because of his commitment to exemplary customer service.

An entertainer and educator by trade, he creates a unique winery and vineyard experience for his guests.

One Leonesse guest recounted Reese at his best:

“Our party was at the end of what was obviously a very long day for Joel and the winery. He created a perfect experience in the midst of organized chaos, and when a mishap occurred, Joel responded with professionalism, quickly turning a potentially difficult situation into a positive outcome.

“His actions impressed our party and we left talking about his ability to truly stand out as a great representative of the winery.”

Reese, who lives in Murrieta with his wife and one of his two daughters, joined Leonesse Cellars a year ago.
His secret to outstanding customer service is simple.

“Every single day I set my mind to entertain, to love and respect people,” he explained.

Reese, 42, is the first in what the CVB hopes will be a long line of honorees.

“The goal of the Temecula Valley CVB is to encourage exceptional customer service in order to cultivate customers and develop our region as a true service-oriented destination,” said Kimberly Adams, president and chief executive of the Temecula Valley CVB. “Each quarter, a service employee working in the Temecula Valley Southern California Wine Country will be recognized for exemplifying total customer service.”

Winners will be those who offer genuine and intentional service, passionately serve the customer, anticipate and recognize the customer needs and resolve customer problems professionally.

The winning employee will be recognized in the Temecula Valley CVB newsletter and will be featured on the CVB Web site as well as honored with an award from the CVB.

Tourism is a significant contributor to the economy of the Temecula Valley. A study conducted by Dean Runyan & Associates estimated that visitor spending in the Temecula Valley exceeds $600 million a year.

Tourism-related employment is more than 6,000 workers and tourism-related spending results in $23 million in annual taxes to local and state coffers.

The Temecula Valley CVB, formed four years ago, is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to stimulate economic growth and tourism by promoting the Temecula Valley as a premiere destination to meeting planners, tour operators and leisure travelers.

The bureau is the first in Inland Southern California to use marketing assessment fees rather than taxpayer money to market the region.
