I was fortunate to be able to walk vineyards with Rich Arnold, Winemaker at Robert Mondavi Winery. He explained to me how he decides when to pick and I think his explanation is very interesting. The video is a little long but very instructive.

Comment by Cheryl Hall on October 27, 2009 at 2:22pm - I really love the fact that Rich shares what he looks for in reserve quality Chardonnay grapes; the small clusters and the small and large berries mixed together. When did they end up picking that vineyard? I hope it was before the rains...
